Hop and Flop Rabbit Rescue is looking for a Program Coordinator to manage our Rabbit Rehoming Assistance Program (RRAP). This is a part-time, volunteer role (3-5 hours/week) working remotely.
ABOUT OUR ORGANISATION
Hop and Flop Rabbit Rescue is a registered non-profit (NPC) based in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming domestic rabbits. We provide a safe haven for abandoned and surrendered rabbits, and advocate for responsible rabbit ownership, spaying/neutering, and improved welfare standards across South Africa.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re looking for a Program Coordinator to run our Rabbit Rehoming Assistance Program (RRAP). This volunteer role (3–5 hours/week, remote) supports rabbit owners in rehoming their rabbits while the rabbits remain in their care. You’ll guide owners, manage applications, and maintain communication until a suitable home is found.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Respond to RRAP enquiries and provide clear, accurate guidance
Enroll rabbits and owners into the program and maintain records
Prepare and manage adoption profiles while rabbits remain with owners
Liaise with owners to obtain updates, photos, and information
Maintain ongoing communication with applicants, providing updates, guidance, and support
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
Essential:
Strong written and verbal communication
Organised and able to track multiple cases
Comfortable with email, spreadsheets, and basic databases
Empathetic, tactful, and able to handle sensitive situations
Problem-solving skills for rehoming challenges
Desirable (but not required):
Understanding of responsible rabbit care and ownership
Experience in animal welfare, rescue, fostering, or rehoming
Customer service or advisory experience
Knowledge of ethical rehoming practices
